* "Last Rites" is instrumental, the title refers to the anointing of the sick tradition of the Catholic Church. In the live shows before releasing the album, the piano part played by Dave Mustaine started on guitar. The piano part is in fact an evocation of "Toccata" by Sebastian Bach. The rest of the song on the piano parts seem to "Steven" by Alice Cooper from his album "Welcome to My Nightmare."
* "Loved To Death" is about someone who killed his love and suicide, and finally ends up in hell. Dave Mustaine set the concept in the song "The boy meets girl, boy falls for girl, girl does not love the boy, the boy kills the girl"
* "Killing Is My Business ... And Business Is Good!" this is a killer, based on the Punisher character who kills her boss after you pay.
* "The Skull Beneath The Skin" is the black magic ritual, and explains the creation of Megadeth mascot Vic Rattlehead, explaining the steel visor, metal caps on their ears, and iron staples hold your jaw shut.
* "Rattlehead" is a description of a Megadeth concert.
* "Chosen Ones" is about a scene in the film Knights of the square table and their crazy fans, that King Arthur and his Knights fight against man-eating rabbits.
* "Looking Down The Cross" is about the crucifixion of Jesus and his final before he died. In the song, Dave says that Jesus could possibly have wished for vengeance, but only spoke of forgiveness.
* "Mechanix" is a wizard of a gas station. This song was re-written and re-recorded with new lyrics by Metallica as "The Four Horsemen for their debut album Kill 'Em All. The original "Mechanix", was titled "The Mechanix" and can be found in the demo of Metallica No Life 'til Leather
* Killing Is My Business ... And Business Is Good! had a giant war against Kill 'Em All due to the name and likeness of the songs.
