RAMMSTEIN
The name of the group is inspired by the German city Ramstein, in whose air base an accident in 1988 happened during a spectacle, in that were implied three airships of the acrobatic squadron Italian Frecce Tricolori. Two of them were surprised in the air and another one fell on the public, causing more than seventy victims. In the name " is repeated; m" , so that it includes the root of the verb rammen (' to hit, hundir') next to the Stein noun (' piedra'); a translation approximated of " Rammstein" he would be therefore " stone of embestir". Although the band has tried throughout its race to deny a relation between its name and this catastrophe, right after being based ' acted several occasions under the Rammstein-Flugschau name (; Aerial spectacle of Rammstein'). [5] Paul Landers describes therefore the election of the name: [6] In one of our tours with Feeling B, Schneider, Flake and I already had name for the new band. We had writing in the wall of ours: " Rammstein Flugschau". Éramos so idiot that we wrote " Rammstein" with two member states, because we did not know that the name of the place only took one. At the outset we were called thus to make the triviality, but the name we had left patch like those motes that to one it does not like. No longer we were able to take off it of above. We did not want to be really called Rammstein, came tax to us. We look for another name: " Milch" , " Erde" or " Mutter" , but the name already was. The song " Rammstein" , one of first that composed and that tries indeed on the event, reached great popularity during the first years of the group. This contributed to that they decided to maintain his name like " Rammstein".
